Vernon E. Faulconer, Inc., a growing Independent Oil & Gas Company with over 35 years in the business, has an opportunity for a Land Records Manager located in our Tyler, Texas Headquarters.  The Land Records Manager will also act in the capacity of a Sr. Landman for the Department.  Additionally, they will provide oversight and direction in support of coordination and management of the Land Department Lease Records and Division Order functions under the direction of the Vice President - Land and Administration.  This position will play a key role in assisting, establishing, maintaining and coordinating the VEFI Land Department objectives and goals. 

Responsibilities:

  • Will provide Land technical support and assistance to Department VP as required.
  • Prepare Farmout Agreements, Joint Operating Agreements, Oil and Gas Leases, Surface Leases, Right-of-Way Agreements and various other agreements applicable to Land Department functions on behalf of Company.  Determine rights owned in the various properties prior to preparing the above agreements and coordinating the terms with upper management.
  • Supervise and coordinate the activities of the Land Department functions under direction of Vice President.  In the absence of the Vice President of Land, may act as the coordinator for property acquisitions, lease negotiations and title research.  Responsible for providing managerial direction and support to Division Order Supervisor and Lease Records Supervisor in coordination of activities and work flow within thier groups.
  • Prepare assignments, generate request for payment of drafts, company checks, cashier’s checks and/or wire transfer for the purchasing and selling of properties, releases of oil and gas leases and other instruments required to complete an acquisition or sale of a property.
  • Review and analyze leases, contracts and legal documents relative to the purchase or sale of a property.
  • Represent the company at various closings at the sale or purchase of properties including auctions as required.
  • Will act as a technical resource for all employees within the Land Department.

Required Qualifications:

To be considered for the role of Land Records Manager, applicants must have:

  • 15+ years experience in all functions of Land Department.
  • Certified Professional Landman (CPL) with previous supervisory/management experience.
  • Proficient in oral and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and previous experience working directly with Senior Management.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to lead, motivate and think strategically.
  • Enhanced skills and experience in preparation and negotiating of contracts, oil and gas leases and well trades.
  • An in-depth knowledge and experience of oil, gas, and mineral leases and Land related functions, including Oil and Gas, Division Order and Title Analysis, knowledge of State and Federal Regulatory Requirements.
  • Petroleum Land Management Degree or equivalent experience with Oil and Gas Law, preferred, but not required.
